John Mosely 1933-1995 Producer and Chief Recording Engineer
This now world famous recording was, sadly, John Mosely's final and greatest achievement in a lifelong career as a recording engineer and producer. John lost his life in a plane
crash. John Mosely never lost the vision of making a landmark recording of Handel's Messiah, using authentic 18th century performance techniques while employing
cutting edge digital recording technology. According to Mosely's dedicated wife, Mikie, "John felt he could accomplish this lifetime goal with the use of
the NightPro Technology which he lovingly called (along with many other of his professional colleagues, artists, and engineers) the "mother of pure sound."
John convinced NightPro to build a one-of-a-kind classical console using their technology to record the Messiah as Handel intended it to be produced. His
unwavering dedication to that goal was the single greatest factor in bringing about this recording. That desire, with the combined talent and technology
made this album one of the classical music's greatest productions. John valued this album greater than all the awards and accolades he achieved, which includes his Academy Award and Lifetime Achievement Award. John
said, after the album completion, "I leave this work for posterity as an endowment to the world, because 100 years from now it will still be played as a classic".
Sir David Willcocks "The best Recording I've ever been associated with. This is the work which made Haydn exclaim: 'He is the Master of
all!' With the talent and especially the technology this recording was done according to Handel!"
Sir David Willcocks, the world's greatest acclaimed oratorio
conductor, combined his distinguished talent with that of the famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir and the renowned NightPro Symphony Orchestra. Harpsichordist Igor Kipnis, organist John
Longhurst and four of the world's leading oratorio soloists join the ensemble to recreate the vibrant reality of Messiah, Handel's most famous work.
Professor Denis Stevens, CBE The World's leading Authority on Classical Music ranks this NightPro production as "the greatest Messiah ever
recorded" and "one of the six greatest classical recordings ever produced." Professor Stevens was awarded the Commander of British Empire Award from the Queen for his
contributions to international music. This famous musicologist has also held two distinguished professorships in America and was Editor of the first music Britannica and
continues to provide editions and produce classical recordings.
Richard "Zman" Zimmerman Managing Director of NightPro Records
& Co-Producer of the Messiah Album "No expense was spared on this 2 1/2 million dollar production which is unquestionably, by far, the best
Messiah ever recorded out of more than 30 productions this century. This historical recording has already started to be used a standard of measurement for all classical music. The
reason is not just because of the expense, but because we produced the greatest piece of music ever written, the exact way that Handel intended it to be performed.
The NightPro technology combined with the talent, and John Mosely's genius, has made this Messiah a classic that will usher in the new millennium!"
